They may not go away entirely, but they should reduce in number. Since it's winter (I'm assuming you're in the northern hemisphere!) the plants will be better off with slightly less water anyway. The only other thing I've heard to try is to put a drop of tabasco in the soil of each plant. I've never tried it, so I don't know if it would work, but it isn't likely to hurt the plant in any way.
