I have my tanks on timers - you can get light timers in the hardware department of most any bigger store (Target, Wal-Mart, Fred Meyer, etc). They turn on at 7AM and go off at 7PM all by themselves. I don't have a night light of any kind and the night temps in the cage drop to about 68 degrees. If your house gets cold at night, you can use a low wattage night bulb (blue or red) or a ceramic heat emitter if you need even more heat. Uros are from the desert where it gets pretty cold at night, so they're quite comfortable that way.
