When i started looking into geckos, I found that a lot of them couldn't be handled much. Others, like Day Geckos, supposedly have delicate skin and aren't supposed to be handled much. Leos, however, seem to enjoy the handling. They'll crawl all over you and onto your hands, and don't mind being picked up (after they get used to you and grow up a bit).
Leos are also very common and relatively inexpensive. Because of this, there are many differen colour patterns available.
They don't need UV light at all (almost all other geckos do) and UV lights are expensive. Leos live off a simple diet of crickets and/or mealworms, and only poop in one spot in their cage. Lay down a piece of paper towel there and they're litter trained.
So they're just easy. And quite friendly once they get used to you and realize you're not trying to eat them.
>>Im thinking about getting a gecko...I notice alot of people like the leopard geckos better. Why is that? In other words, what do you guys have to say about your geckos??? Thanks ----- Blaine
