When other kids had sports figures as heroes, Roger was the one I admired. When he was at the Philly Zoo, he took the time to personally answer a letter from a pesty kid (me) with a zillion herp questions. As recently as 2 years ago he took the time to help me identify an intergrade copperhead in my collection, the photos of which I sent him. I saved is letters, they are a treasure. My only regret is never having gotten the opportunity to meet him. He was like a grandfather to all of us. | ||
