Metabolic Bone Disease. It is due to a lack of blood calcium. It causes calcium to be withdrawn from stores in the bone. This causes the bones to become brittle. Calcium is a very neccesary mineral (ion) for the body. For nerve cells to work properly and for muscles to contract properly there has to be sufficient blood calcium levels. Some signs of it are twitching toes/feet, brittle bones/jaw, trembling, and seizures. The cause is in a lot of cases is insufficient dietary calcium, and/or inadequate levels of vitamin D3 (dietary or proccessed from cholesterol by UVB and the kidneys). There can be other causes, however inappropriate diet is usually the cause. Hope this is what you were looking for. ----- Derek Affonce
