The third eye is a "bump" right in the very center of his head, equi-distant from his primary eyes, and bisecting the "line" from the center of the snout to the nape of the neck. This "eye" as it were is below the skin, and can sense changes in UVa and UVb lighting from tenths to possibly hundredths of a degree. So, if something cuts across his "field of view" above him, he will react to it as if his normal eyes actually saw movement. With it, he can reposition himself during bright sunny days to get the most angle of light he can. Hope this helps. ----- Dl
