Thanks for the pic. I'm trying to get an idea of how much ventilation I need to provide on my Uro's cage top while keeping heat in.



My room temp remains at 72 degrees year round. The cage will be against an outside wall. I'm concerned about being able to keep the temps up, so I was wondering if I could cut down on how much of the top is open so that less heat will escape.



However, I don't know how much (if any) of the top I can cover. I plan to provide a glass tank that is 48lx18wx21h. Rather than a top that is entirely made of screen mesh, my boyfriend has offered to build a wood top with a front opening hinged door for accessing the interior of the tank. He plans to cut an area for ventilation where he will put screen mesh and some other openings for lights. But we are unsure how big the screened ventilation area should be. We're thinking of an area about 24inx5in situated in the middle of the top. Is this not enough ventilation? I've seen so many set ups that seem to have even less, but just wanted to make sure I do it right.
