It's hard to say what "average" is with silkies... That sounds about right though. You don't have to use the size rule, they're very soft bodied --- just be reasonable, don't give a full grown ready-to-spin silkie to a small 6" guy or something. I have to moderate mine --- he'll eat them so fast he doesn't give himself time to swallow and he throws up. I found that if I moderate (Drop 2 in, wait a little bit, drop 2 more in) it's the best way.
