UVB is needed to produce vitamine D3 in a bearded dragon's body. Supplimenting D3 into the dragon's diet ensures there is enough D3 to metabolize what calcium the dragon eats. There is still alot of debate whether a dragon can be healthy and fit using supplimented D3 alone instead of a UVB bulb. Personally I haven't been able to prove this can be done so use both methods to ensure all bases are covered. | ||
