That's just being practical about your needs. The cage looks great and I'm sure it ideal for the specimen.



Regarding the lexan floor. Did you cover only the cutout area or did you go on to cover the entire floor?



If the latter, I'd be curious to hear how well the lexan conducts heat and if you get a gradual thermal gradiant along the length of the floor.



If you don't like the gradiant you are getting you could cover the entire floor with expanded PVC. It's closed-cell structure conducts heat very well and makes for an easy to clean surface. However, I'm guessing you're not having such problems.



I also like lexan for cage doors. My only gripe with it is that if you do scratch it none of the readily available plastic polishes work very well on it. Of course scratches are usually not a significant problem with lexan and other polycarbonates.
