If its a quick move it isn't harmful to the animal,, but the point of feeding outside the enclosure is to keep your snake from getting used to your hand coming into view meaning food and triggering a strike response. It also makes it easier for you to monitor the eating process and ensures, that if you use a loose substrate, the snake doesn't ingest any of it. ----- Lucien
