I'd say that it's more likely he's just slowing down a little for the winter. If it doesn't look like he's losing weight, don't worry about his lack of appetite. If he wants to sleep in his hide, let him sleep. Taking him off sand is a good idea though since it'll be one less thing to worry about.
It's good that you keep alert about the slightest changes in his behavior though. It takes some people forever before they realize something's wrong with their leo. ----- chickabowwow
