Your best move would be to get him a cage.

People house them in many ways. Free roaming in my opinion (my opinion only) is not good. You can't control where it goes or decides to drop off and become a meal, get stepped on, etc; Yes it sometimes looks nice It's easier to mist, feed, and monitor when in an enclosed set up.

These are my opinions only as opinion varies..
