Wow, we are pretty similar. My name is mike, I am 14, I am going to have some sort of future with reptiles but I have no clue what it will be yet. I am planning on getting my high school volunteer hours in at one of the local pet stores. The zoo must be a really cool place to work, but I live too far away from a zoo to do that. I visited a zoo in Tennessee and I told one of the reptile experts that I bred my malis uromastyx. He took me into the back and showed me his gila monster breading pair, hatchlings of all sorts of rare species of lizards and snakes, and had a room full of incubators. Now that I think about it working at a zoo with unlimited funds towards breeding and the welfare of the animals would be awesome. I know that zoo's sell hatchlings if they get surpluses, if you worked there, you would be the first person to receive the surpluses hatchlings. What is it like at the zoo? Do you just work with reptiles, or do you help out where ever it is needed. Also, school wise what would be some smart classes for me if I want to do something with reptiles in the future. How many years does it take to become a herpetologist? What exactly is it? I always thought it is an expert in the field of reptiles, is that correct?
