If you really have the money to blow, he might want to consider getting some ultraviolet bulbs. Hognoses are certainly more diurnal man other snakes, and may benefit from a full-spectrum bulb, which are known to elicit more natural behaviors in captive reptiles and amphibians. Especially when it comes to hognoses, which may go off feed spontaneously at any time of the year, who knows if keeping hognoses under natural-like light may keep them feeding on a more regular basis.
