After experimenting a lot with various UVB sources and supplementation schemes for diurnal lizards in the 80s and for a second time in the 90s with all those new UVB sources, I decided to prefer high ligth intenity over special UVB spectra sinc I had to suplement Vitmaien D anyhow.

To my experience you can fully supplement for UVB by dietary Vitamine D-but I have no idea how to supplement for light intensities.

For my Uros that means that they have access to bright lights (e.g 150 W metal Halide HQI NDL or D)-which do have a limited UVB outpüut, but no special UVB source.

All animals have constant access to bird grit and the Uromastyx receive two doses of approx 20 IU 1,25 Dihydroxyvitamine D (but you can choose cholecalciferol as well) per kg animal each week.

I have good experiences with this regime, which meansd that I do breed some diurnal species since 20 years or for several generations without access to special UVB or natural sunlight.

I only do have one pair of Uros in my collection plus their babies form the respective year. It works for them as well as for the other species.
