Sometimes newts will stop eating after being moved, but should start again within a week. I feed my C. orientalis (a Chinese Fire Bellied Newt) frozen bloodworms (thawed), live blackworms, and live earthworms cut into small pieces. If you can find really small earthworms, you won't have to cut them up too much and they'll still wiggle. Otherwise, you may need to find a way to wiggle the food around to make it look inviting until they get used to what you offer. I haven't heard of many fire-bellies of any kind liking newt pellets much. Don't leave uneaten food in the tank for more than a couple of hours. You may have better luck feeding them if they are in the water. [ Hide Replies ]
