Thanks ... that's what I was guessing ... the only uro specific reference I could find on-line to venting/gaping (I'm under the impression that they're interchangable terms ... I could certainly be wrong!) is at a site called sundial reptiles ... and there only in passing. I have a beautiful new red geyri, with stunning markings and just an overall beautiful specimen ... within 24 hours of aquiring him he was accepting food from my hand ... he was also exhibiting some of that gaping/venting behavior, which, in the absence of any other apparent signs/causes for distress, I assumed was the heat-regulating behavior. Thanks for your input!
