So i chnaged my substarte a while ago, whe robyn first put the formula for the dirt mix on here. First i tried it in my adult tank. They are pretty much laid back about the dirt. They havent dug *too* much really. They are starting to dig under the basking area a little but are pretty lazy about it i guess. They seem happy though and with the added substrate the temperatures stay even higher which is good for the cold winter we are ahving up here in NJ. Well, i also tried this substrate for my baby. He is having a great time with it! altough he is still small, this substrate seems safer than sand. Plus he was digging his paper towels to shreds. I put in maybe 6 inches in his tank since i have to take it down to clean it (it would be mad ehavy if i put any more!). In the past week he has dug a huge long tunnel throught his tank, multiple burrows and i see him out during the day so i feel no need to disturb him. He seems very happy and has grown a little since the new substrate has been put in. I am so happy he loves this new setup. I assume he will only further thrive with the new dirt mix. |
