Feeding Cactus... anyone?

There's cactus in our wal-mart grocery section. It's the same cactus that grows here locally in the wild. Here being East Texas. Is anyone feeding reptiles cactus? I'm sure in my nature books , as a child, I read about it---- long,long ago. Any input would be appriciated.
