Probably the quickest way to end your snake's life is just to break his neck. Not very nice sounding, I know, but it gets it over quickly for the critter. Reptiles being slow breathers, suffocation or CO2 asphyxiation could take a long time and you'd have trouble telling when you're done.



Perhaps less humane, but less wasteful would be to feed him to another pet who would enjoy the snack.



The best way to treat a prolapsed anything, if noticed early enough, is to soak the prolapsed tissue in sugar water (NOT saltwater) to prevent dehydration and try and shrink the tissue. Taking the animal to the vet should also be done, but without the soaking you could wind up with dead and shrivveled tissue before you had time to get the critter in. Prolapsed tissue is a serious issue and a wait and see attitude should not be taken.
