I've been doing it with the ziplock bag in the bowl of hot water, but recently, it seems that the frozen animals are getting TOO warm with this method (although I didn't use to have this problem) and I'm concerned that they may be "cooking" just a little bit. My snake has been off-feed for the last many weeks and I'm not sure if it's because of the weather (most likely) or because his mice have been smelling funky.
The last time I tried to feed him, I put the mice in the refridgerator overnight (very discreetly, mind you!) to thaw, and then just a few minutes in a bowl of hot water before feeding. No funky smell that time and he was a lot more interested in them, though still didn't eat. (That's a whole 'nother story for a different forum.)
Anyhow...sorry for rambling...to make a long story short...From now on, I'll be thawing overnight in the fridge, then just warming up with the hot water trick.
