Last fall I saw a grown man run to his car because a 2 foot Midland Water Snake swam by just 6 or 7 feet away from where he was fishing. (He was standing on a dock) BTW, apparently there are only 3 species of snakes that exist in this state. Anything seen within 6 miles of water is a Cottonmouth and anything seen more than 6 miles from water is a Copperhead. The only exception is if the snake is spotted near a farm. That constitutes a "Chicken Snake." [ Hide Replies ]
