When I first started my leo on mealies, I just held them by their end two inches in front of her face. She snatched them up, then I went to dropping them in front of her. I hand feed every day, though I know sometimes schedules make that hard. You might wanna try hand feeding your leo for a day or two, just to let it know that the mealies are good and tastey.
