>>My son has been approved for a Wish from Make-a-Wish foundation, and he wants to spend time with herps and herp people, learning, handling and caring for snakes and lizards. Are there any suggestions (not overseas) for great ways to spend a week or two for a ten year old herp nut? Thanks.
Not sure where you are at, but the Chicago Herp Society in IL has a yearly event that is the largest educational event out there. No live animal sales and over 100 species of reptiles (including endangered and protected species). This year it is being held April 3 and 4. I have included the link to their website. If you have any specific questions feel free to email me. Just click on the Reptile Fest links. Im sure if the Make a Wish Foundation contacts the CHS, it could be arranged for him to help out at booths as well. With the number of animals it would be hard for him not to find a reptile he really wants to work with or maybe even 10. Chicago Herp Society.
