I have also read it but am not sure where. It would make sense that their skin would be somewhat porous, just like humans, but the amount of water that could be absorbed through the skin would be minimal at best. I only use the water bath for shedding uros. I have a (now don't laugh) "uro sauna" which I made from a rubbermaid shoe box with a dozen holes drilled in the sides. I put nice 100 degree water in there to the proper height, put the cover on and let them sit 15-20 minutes, always supervised. It gets kinda steamy. It works amazingly well to help them shed. The old skin just rubs off as I gently dry them with terry towels.
