I assume you are referring to the salamander from the Genus Tylotriton. No newt or salamander require UVL; in fact it may be detrimental to the animal depending on the amount of luminous flux emitted.
The genus Tylotriton are found in the mountainous cloud-like forrests of the Southwest, Central and South China regions. They are crepuscular and nocturnal in behavior in the wild but will acclimatize in captivity to daylight activity. All animals offered by the importers are wild caught and parisitized by intestinal and blood nematodes. If you manage to keep yours alive, you will enjoy them tremendously as they become friendly with its keeper.
