In reguards to your comment on the mercury vapor bulb (100W), out of curiosity, why do you stress the importance of not allowing the BD to get closer to 12 inches to it. I purchased one the other day, and DID indeed read all of the warnings/precautions, but did not find an explanation as to why the BD should be at least 12 inches from the light.



I checked the temp at a range of about 6inches, and it is does not reach proper BD basking temps on its own. Could the recommendation be due to the fact that being any closer than 12 inches could produce harmful effects of too much UV for the BD?



I think I'll write to zoomed and see what they say too.
