An hour after I last saw her my lovely beardie was on the bottom of her cage dead. She was only a year old. I know nobody can tell me why this happened but I have a few questions that you may be able to answer.

Firsty, I was wondering if it was inevitable that she would die as she was very underweight (110 grams) due to lack of appetite. She would only eat one or two crickets at a time (sometimes none)- she seemed totally uninterested in food. I would spend ages trying to tempt her with crickets, locusts and silkworms. I thought my perserverence had paid off because lately her appetite had increased and her weight was steadily climbing. She was always lively and funny.

When I found her she was lying with her eyes closed and under her chin (beard) she was very black. Is this significant?

Her basking spot was 110. UVB lighting throughout the day, vitamin and calcium supplements used regularly though not daily.

I had taken her to the vet last year for a checkup and fecal test to see if I could find out why she wasn't eating. The vet could find nothing wrong and no parasites in her feces although he said to treat her with Panacur "just in case" as my Leopard Gecko had worms.

Re-reading the above I realise that you won't be able to tell me why she died. I feel so sad and so very scared now about my other pets. I'm gutted.

Thanks for reading this.

Colleen
