I've always had problems with the capture the sun brand especially with early burn outs, and the same things you describe. There warranty is prorated, and has always been that way. It's stated on the papers that came with the bulb how exactly there warranty works, and yes after an amount of time you do pay towards the replacement. The Powersun by zoomed come with a card in the box, you fill out the card send it in, and hold on to the original receipt. If the Powersun blows within 12 months they will replace the bulb for free, but of course you pay the shipping. If the Powersun blows in 3 months the replacement is warranted for the remaining 9 months. Out of all the MVB bulbs, and I've tried them all my best experiences has been with the Zoomed, and the Powersun bulbs.
