See the threads below on Crypto. There are some extensive explanations. Crypo is a coccidian. It is very small in size, easy to overlook in diagnosis, highly contagious and deadly. The full name is Cryptosporidium sp.. There are presently about 9 described species, one of which, Cryptosporidium serpentis is known to cause disease in snakes. Others may. Other species are fairly commonly found in non-symptomatic snakes.
