The electrical wiring inside the flexwatt is very fragile. Sharp bends in fragile wire are a bad idea. While you might have success on occasion, my experience has been:

Keep 'em relatively flat (or on gentle curves). Otherwise, you risk breaking the filaments inside.



Keep 'em well ventilated. Otherise, you risk overheating the surface they're on (you'd be surprised how little heat it takes to overheat glass and cause it to crack...)



Keep 'em on a thermostat/rheostat. Otherwise, you risk scorching your critters...



Hope this helps a bit! Just have been through this one a time or twelve too many...
