I'd really have to see that large box in person to determine if it is suitable for width-wise insertion in a lidless rack system.



But I'd assume it will require length-wise insertion.



Secondly, those lids are quite raised so until you know the height without the lid it will be difficult for you to design the racks.



It sounds like you know what you need to do, you're just getting frustrated tossing the numbers around and deciding the best way to do it. I can relate to that. I've got notebooks full of designs for various cages and racks. Most of them have never been built - they are just variation on dimensions of an idea I had.
