reptiles and birds in same apartment

Has anyone had any experience with this? I'm not too woried about my dragons/uro's getting along with a bird - if they don't I can easily keep them seperated. They will however need to share some of the same space. My reptiles usually spend an hour or two out of the cage and occupy common areas that would be shared by a bird. The couch would be one such area. How risky is this for the bird (i.e. catching Salmonella)?
