NEWS CHIEF (Bartow, Florida) 04 March 04 PCSO plans auction of seized animals
A public auction for the sale of several animals that were seized during an animal abuse case, will be held at 1 p.m. on March 19 at the Sheriff's farm on Bob Phillips Road (next to the Central County Jail), in Bartow.
Last month the Polk County Sheriff's Office was awarded custody of several animals that were seized during an animal abuse case against Cheryl Semprini and co-defendants Rachel and Matthew Semprini.

Also being offered for sale by sealed bid only are a female yellow anaconda (minimum bid $112.00); a female African rock python (minimum bid $67.00); a male Pueblan milk snake (minimum bid $92.00); a male Dumeril boa (minimum bid $117.00); a female and male Burmese python (minimum bid $107.00 each); a female and male ball python (minimum bid $60.00 each); a female red tail boa (minimum bid $117.00); and a female and two male Columbian boas (minimum bid $117.00 each).
The snakes are available for viewing during store hours at The Reptile Shack, located at 3632 U.S. Highway 92, Suite 6, in Lakeland; or they can be seen at The Reptile Show in Tampa, on March 13 and 14.
The sealed bids must be sent by mail to: Polk County Sheriff's Office, ATTN: Major Francis Hart, 455 N. Broadway, Bartow, FL, 33030. No bids will be accepted after 5 p.m., March 17.
Bids will be opened at 1 p.m. on March 19, at the farm.
Proceeds from the sales will help cover some of the expenses incurred by the sheriff's office so far in this investigation.
No sale shall be final until the sheriff's office has approved the bidder as a suitable owner for these formerly abused animals. The sheriff reserves the right to refuse any sale. PCSO plans auction of seized animals
