I know that when Luke escaped I found him laying on the portion of the heating pad that stuck out from the edge of my baby snakes tank. I thought it was a bit odd but then we aren't certain that these guys don't need some heat for digestion. I'm not sure about the uth but I have placed them on the sides of enclosures before and the babies seem to keep to the branches closest to the uth.
