Today we took in (14) 7.5 month old dragons, many missing feet, whole limbs, parts of tails. There were 12 more in the clutch that went to a foster home to be rehabilitated. These babies were the result of a novice breeder that wanted to hatch a clutch of eggs from her adult pair and then couldn't or wouldn't part with the babies. She kept them in 2 large groups and finally just got overwhelmed with feeding, cleaning, and vet care from injuries. They did have a decent diet and UVB and seem to be in fairly good health, despite missing parts. They are all pretty dragons and quite sweet. Hopefully, in 30 days or so, most of them will be looking for adoptive homes.
Please, if you are a novice and considering breeding your dragons, think about it long and hard before you do so. As a rescue, we've been seeing more and more dragons needing rehoming in the last 8-10 months. Let's not make them the next Green Iguana.
