Typically, the main way to tell is if they make a gurgling or hiccup type sound occasionally with breathing.



Definitely with shipping this time of year (never know what some of these places do with the boxes even with heat packs!), if your heat goes out, or if you have an extra cool night, it is something to watch for. Action should be taken asap--it is very easy to clear up (baytril), but can take a turn for the worse fast.



But yes, often an increase in heat and decrease in water can take care of it if mild.
