My male aslo does that i have hatched 5 diffrent clutches of eggs but i still havent actually seen them breeding but i have them in a large enclosure my male "Carl" seems to do the smae thimg he gets on her and bites her then leaves, i suggest you leave them together for a while overnight they probly want some privacy......becuase My female just laid 15 eggs today.
