Something similar happened to one of my snakes, except she starting showing symptoms suddenly and was dead in under 8 hours. A vet would be able to tell you what happened but unless it was an obvious physical problem it would cost you. Assuming the snake didn't get overheated or poisoned, it's probably not your fault, just an unlucky fluke. Once you recover, I hope you'll consider getting another snake.
