Nest box size???

I picked up a plastic container today that is about 9" x 12.5" x 4" high. Does this seem an okay size for a laying box for a ball python? Is it high enough to leave the top on with a hole for an entrance? Just trying to figure out what to use inside their plastic 14x22x11 containers. They have cardboard boxes for hides right now.
