I didn't know how long he was...

Either you didn't mention his length, or I missed it (sorry if I missed it). 3ft. doesn't sound too large for a 2 yr old. I thought he might be a lot bigger. I have heard people mention that (growing very quickly) as a likely cause of some large, fast growing snakes with small heads, so thought it might have some bearing on your snake.
