I disagree with number three. Sav's can make excellent pets, you just need to give them space and handle them a lot, like anything else.

But definatley don't house them together. Depending on who was bigger, they would surely kill and/or eat one another. You also risk spreading disease from species to species. Also, like another poster commented on, the basking spot required for a sav is generally 35-40 degrees warmer than the one required for a Ball. On top of all this, one or the other or both would probably be stressed out to the max, and would not eat, and eventually die of starvation (the sav would go first, though!).

Get a seperate cage for the sav, which will eventually require at least a 2'H x 4'L x 2.5' D enclosure bare minimum. Both Ball Pythons and Savannah monitors can make excellent pets, as long as the necessities are met, and that includes seperate enclosures for both species. Good luck!
