If you are looking for a Moluccan, Halmahera, Aru, Wamena or Tanimbar then you may have to look for an import. If you want a Barneck or Southern, there are enough adults out there that are breedable so you can just be patient and wait for someone to produce a baby for you to buy. CB specimens are always better in health and will adapt much better to captive life. Not to mention, WC Barnecks that are being imported these days are of a locale that is not known for being very pretty to most folks. And as far as locale, one can never assume they have proper locale with an import wildcaught animal. So why not just buy CB that you can be assured is at least a pure scrub of whatever type? Since you are new to this, do it the right way and get CB. If you are worried about waiting too long, then do what you will. Patience however, can have some of the best payoffs.
And for the record, retics are quite different to work with than a retic. The only resemblance is size (at some point) and sometimes temperament. But scrubs are more agile and tend to have a few more tricks up their "sleeve". They are also much more difficult to successfully reproduce than retics. Hence the rarity. A CB Barneck should be worth more than any Jampea Retic, considering how many of each are avialable each year and how many are in captivity altogether. But more folks are into retics so there is a larger audience willing to buy them. Anyway....The pic above is a pair of Barnecks we had breeding earlier this season.
