I would use oak if building a cage. Walnut is a little furry,melamine doesnt do well in high humidity and normal plywood is just out of the question (to few ply's). Just a little idea when stacking, on the bottom of both the cages frame the front and sides with a 1x1. This will allow air movement and provide clearens for your heat pads and wires.
