Posted by: Chameleo19 at Wed Apr 7 14:57:35 2004 [ Email Message ] [ Show All Posts by Chameleo19 ] When I bred my vield chameleons 8 years ago my 1 pair the female would never take on gravid colors no matter how many times she has bred nor how long she has been carrying the fertile eggs. She would always stay her green with some pumkin orange and robins egg blue spots, never got the dark colors. My other pair on the other hand the female would take on gravid colors almost immediatly after breeding. I guess it all depends on the chameleon. I noticed also most of the time the breeding would take place either early in the morning or late at night. The 1 female I had that never took on gravid colors after she did breed she would not stay near the male and I would know it is time to remove her so it is possible this is what has happened with your female she has bred and is ready to be taken away. As long as there is no aggression you should be able to keep her in the cage with the male for a week or so to make sure she has had a successful breeding. And for anyone wondering the female that never took on gravid colors of mine always had fertile eggs and laid large clutches of 40-64 eggs. | ||
