I am just curious about how other gravid females’ act.
My female Disa is gravid and about to lay her second clutch any day now (this is the second year she is bred). She is soooo veeeeery restless.
Her lights are turned on by 8 am but she is up around 7 – scratching and running around. She constantly does this until the lights goes off at 9 PM. Then she scratches for another 15 minutes or so before she finally goes to sleep. When I say constantly – I MEAN constantly. Maybe she basks for 5 minutes (at the MOST) every hour or so. If I let her out to run in my apartment she runs for HOURS - if I let her. When out of the cage she scratches at doors and walls as well… I once left her out to see how long it would go on, and she ran *non-stop* for 3 hours. Then I couldn’t let her be out of the warm cage so I put her in again.
She scratches and digs in her cage every waking minute (anywhere but in the egglayingbox).
I am just curious to hear if other breeders’ females act this way – or is my Disa “special”?
I have never heard anyone else “complain” about their restless females, I love my little girl but I have to admit that it sometimes gets on my nerves to hear this scratching all the time. And I feel so sorry for HER that she can’t relax one single minute.
This usually goes on for 7-9 days before she finally lays her eggs.
I am not worried or anything, I just want to hear other peoples’ experiences – so please tell me how YOU’RE gravid female acts!
