My beardie...well, I had her since she was a tiny baby, and it just happened. She gives me a funny look and repeats it if I don't get the hint. Then she lifts her tail. She is good about waiting for me to put a paper towel under her tail.
I think it's because when she was a baby I just watched her and could tell when she was about to go. She would start straining. Then came the paper towel. But she was also so weak I had to force feed her for a month. And it wasn't too long after she ate that she would poo.
Anyway, that was two years ago and she's healthy as a horse, and to this day she wants a paper towel put under her before pooing.
In fact she never goes in her terrarium (a 100 gallon tank) and I change the newspaper once every few months. and it's clean as a whistle (other than the newspaper yellowing from age!)
