Here is my list of materials for a 3' by 2' by 2' (36" by 22" by 22.5" inside) cage. It is for my BP.
1- 4' by 8' 3/4 inch plywood cut into-4 pieces that are 3' by 2' and 2 that are 2' by 2'
a)one of the 3' by 2' needs to have a hole/square cut out that measures 32" by 20"
b)one of the 3' by 2' needs to have a hole/square cut out that measures 24" by 12" two inches away from the side
c)one of the 3' by 2' needs to have a hole/square cut out that measures 11" by 11" three inches away from side
4-22.5" 2 by 2's
1- 1 gal to of water based polyurethane
1- 2 large paint brushes
1- piece linoleum measuring 34 1/2" by 24" (cut so shape around 2 by 2's)
2- piece linoleum measuring 24 by 12" (cut so shape around 2 by 2's)
2- piece linoleum measuring 36" by 12" (cut so shape around 2 by 2's)
2- plastic sliding glass door tracks measuring 36" long
2- pieces of 1/4 inch glass measuring 20" by around 22"
1- Large bottle of Liquid Nails
2- Identical drill bit and a box of matching screws
1- Piece Hardware cloth measuring 13" by 13"
First After getting the wood cut i will Coat them with 3 coats of polyurethane.
Then i will attach the 2 by 2's onto the bottom piece with liquid nails then screws.
Then I will place the linoleum on the cage and securing it with a little liquid nails.
Then I will place the sliding door track on the top and bottom. Then i will cover the holes (except the largest one) with hardware cloth.
Then i will install the front, back, top, and one side.
Then i will put the glass in and finally the last side.
I would use a fake rock substrate and cut holes in the polystyrene (the base for the fake rock) for plants. I would use an aloe plant or a jade tree (both nice looking). But with live plants you will want a MVB because flourescents dont get down 2', of course you could always raise the substrate or shorten the height. -----
