I don't think it is Acanthosaura.........

First, the scales look too smooth, MHDs have interspersed larger tubercular scales.



Second the brow doesn't have much of a point, appears more rounded towards the back of the head.



Third, if you look at the tail it appears to be much more stout than that of an MHD which has a very thin tail.



Last, I agree that there don't appear to be any reminents of places where there would have been horns.



My first though was calotes but I'm not sure the head looks right for that species either. I did find a few that had the rays around the eyes but am just not sure.



So, what is it? I am not sure. I am hoping at this point that Ingo will jump in and shed some light!
